Our Story
- Bokomo Botswana (Pty) Ltd is a wheat & maize milling company that was established in 2003 as a joint venture between PF Brink, a Botswana registered company, and Pioneer Foods Ltd of South Africa. Pioneer foods Ltd was recently acquired by PepsiCo International, becoming a privately held entity within the PepsiCo Group.
- Bokomo Botswana strives to improve value for its customers, shareholders, employees, suppliers & community by continuously aspiring to be the best milling, sales & distribution company of fast-moving consumer goods in Botswana.
- Bokomo Botswana has a milling & packaging factory and warehousing facility adjacent to its head office along Takatokwane road in the South-Western area of the capital city Gaborone. The company also operates a distribution depot in Francistown, which caters for its customers in the northern region of the country.
- Bokomo Botswana is a significant player in the fast-moving consumer goods space, well known for its trusted household brands such as White Star super maize meal, Lesedi special maize meal, Pure Sugar, Bokomo bread flour, Bokomo cake flour, Bokomo self-raising flour, Magwinya mix, Champion sorghum, Champion maize rice and Champion samp. These products have become must-haves in many Batswana’s pantries.
- Bokomo Botswana has a rich heritage. Upon establishment in 2003, the company’s initial focus was wheat and maize milling, but over the years the company acquired several poultry businesses, commissioned a sugar packing plant and opened the Francistown depot. In 2018 Bokomo commissioned a full-mix flour batching plant, in 2019 a sorghum mill, and in 2021 commissioned an additional warehouse in line with a growth strategy.
- In addition to its manufacturing business, Bokomo Botswana acts as the distribution agent for the Pioneer Foods’ and Simba ranges of products in Botswana which includes beverages (Ceres, Liqui-fruit, Fruitree, Lipton, Wild Island and Caribbean cordials), cereals (Weet-Bix, Bokomo cornflakes, Bokomo bran flakes, Pronutro, Otees, Nature source muesli, Futurelife and Bokomo Rusks), Safari snacks and dried fruits, Spekko rice, Pasta Grande, Wellingtons condiments, as well as Moirs baking aids and desserts.
- The poultry section of the business was disposed of in 2017 as a stand-alone and sustainable business in order for the company to focus more on its core business, being milling.
- Bokomo Botswana prides itself in #BringingGoodnessToLife, a statement asserting Bokomo products as more than just food, but an anchor to consumer’s everyday lives and moments.
