Simple Scones

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Bokomo Flour
  • 4 tspns Baking Powder
  • 250g baking margarine (room temperature)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tspn vanilla essence
  • ½ cup of Pure Sugar (Brown) – Optional
  • 1 cup of buttermilk or sourmilk (amasi)
  • 1 egg for brushing
  • Pinch of salt

Method

    1. In a bowl using your fingertips, mix flour with margarine until it forms breadcrumbs, add your sugar and baking powder and salt
    2. In a separate bowl, mix together eggs, buttermilk and vanilla essence and stir until well combined
    3. Add your wet ingredients into your dry ingredients and mix
    4. Once done, transfer your dough on to a floured surface and cut. Brush with egg and bake at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown
